Atlanta’s proposed donation of up to $1.1 million for youth-development grants would come from the General Fund, with $370,000 slated for fiscal year 2027 and $365,000 in each of fiscal years 2028 and 2029.[1]

The Urban League of Greater Atlanta would use the donation to support its Youth Development Grant Program, which funds community-based nonprofits so they can expand services for Metro Atlanta students and families. It is money for organizations serving young people, rather than direct payments to families.[1]

Our report on the committee’s three-year recommendation left the funding account and annual installments unresolved. The substitute in the council packet specifies both, naming a General Fund account under the Non Departmental Reserve of Fund Appropriations, labeled Consulting/Professional Services.[1]

Resolution 26-R-4275 is scheduled for Atlanta City Council consideration November 2 at 1 p.m. The Finance/Executive Committee unanimously recommended the substitute October 28—a recommendation, not final authorization of the donation.[1]

The proposed donation agreement would not bind the city until it receives city-attorney approval as to form, is executed by the mayor or a designee, and is delivered to the Urban League.[1]
