Committee backs three-year, $1.1 million youth-grant plan

The Urban League would channel the money to nonprofits serving students and families. The unanimous recommendation advances a revised proposal—not a final funding approval.

Atlanta’s Finance/Executive Committee unanimously recommended a donation of up to $1.1 million over three years to the Urban League of Greater Atlanta on October 28, advancing a revised plan to support youth-development grants.[1]

The money would support an existing program that awards grants to community-based nonprofits to expand services for Metro Atlanta students and their families. It is funding for organizations serving young people, rather than direct payments to families.[1][2]

The FY2027 proposal we previously reported did not specify a three-year span. The committee’s substitute adds that timeline while retaining both the $1.1 million ceiling and the reference to fiscal year 2027 in its title.[1][2]

One financing detail remains unclear from these records: the premeeting draft marked the payment account “TBD.” The committee minutes do not identify a replacement account or spell out annual installments; they should not be read as establishing that the substitute still leaves the account blank.[1][2]

The vote was a favorable recommendation on a substitute resolution, not final city authorization of the donation. The minutes list November 2 at 1 p.m. as Resolution 26-R-4275’s next scheduled action.[1]
