FBI veteran nominated for Atlanta’s inspector general board

Margo D. Walker is the League of Women Voters’ choice for a three-year term. A committee held her appointment Oct. 28 to allow her to appear.

The League of Women Voters has nominated Margo D. Walker, whose background includes more than 30 years with the FBI, for a three-year term on Atlanta’s Office of the Inspector General governing board, according to the pending appointment resolution.[1][2]

Walker’s FBI work included counterintelligence and counterterrorism surveillance, supervising investigative personnel, program evaluation, compliance and budget oversight, the resolution says.[1]

The Finance/Executive Committee unanimously held the appointment Oct. 28 “to allow the appointee to appear,” according to its minutes. That was a delay, not confirmation.[2]

The League has a charter-designated role in nominating one governing-board member, according to the resolution. Walker’s proposed appointment requires City Council confirmation and mayoral approval; her three-year term would begin upon approval.[1][2]
