Council approves hotel-and-shops swap in Creative Land hamlet plan
Draft minutes record a unanimous Nov. 5 vote for the revised layout of the roughly 263-acre hamlet. It is concept-plan approval—not final site-plan approval.
Creative Land Co.’s plan to swap the locations of a hotel and a shops-and-flats area has won unanimous Chattahoochee Hills City Council approval, according to draft minutes of the Nov. 5 meeting.[1][2]
The revised layout places the hotel site in the commercial area labeled phase 2, while retail and loft flats shift to phase 5 at the northern end. The roughly 263-acre hamlet lies between Cochran Mill and Creel roads, south of Cedar Grove Road.[2]
A decades-old land-title error set the reshuffle in motion. Community Development Director Mike Morton’s report says the city returned 2.35 acres of the hamlet to rural zoning earlier this year. That forced a district-buffer adjustment that encroached on the original hotel site.[2]
The report says open space, buffers and residential densities would remain unchanged except for adjustments associated with that zoning correction.[2]
Our earlier account covered the Planning Commission’s unanimous recommendation at its Oct. 15 meeting. The Nov. 5 council vote moves the amendment beyond that advisory stage.[1][3]
But the approval fixes the development framework, not every detail on the ground. Morton’s report explicitly distinguishes concept-plan approval from final site-plan approval: later plat, land-disturbance and building-permit applications are evaluated partly for consistency with the concept, and the exact placement of site features can still change.[2]
