Cochran Mill Park footbridge was closed for safety; bridge talks set Nov. 10
October draft council minutes say staff was preparing to seek a replacement. The Parks Commission agenda schedules discussion—not approval.
A footbridge at Cochran Mill Park was closed for safety, and city staff was preparing to seek its replacement, Public Works/Parks Director Darold Wendlandt told Chattahoochee Hills City Council on Oct. 6, according to draft minutes.[1]
Wendlandt described the footbridge as “in shambles.” He said he and the city manager were working on a request for proposals to replace it, with an approval request potentially coming to council in “maybe another couple council meetings.” That was an estimate, not an approved construction timetable.[1]
A Cochran Mill Park bridge discussion with Wendlandt is now on the Parks Commission’s Nov. 10 agenda. The meeting is scheduled for 4 p.m. at 6505 Rico Road. The bridge appears under discussion items, not as a replacement-contract approval.[2]
The October report and November agenda do not identify the affected trail or establish whether the footbridge has since reopened. They also provide no replacement cost or completion date. Visitors seeking current access information can contact the city’s parks office at 770-463-8881.[1][2][3]
