Local brief
Paddle six miles, help clean the Chattahoochee
Registration is open for the Nov. 14 outing from New Riverlands Park to Coweta Riverside Park. Plan to bring a boat and gear; a few loaner kayaks may be available.
Chattahoochee Riverkeeper is recruiting volunteers for a six-mile paddle cleanup on Nov. 14, from New Riverlands Park to Coweta Riverside Park south of Atlanta. Participants will meet at 8 a.m., and organizers expect to finish by 1–2 p.m.[1][2]
The event is hosted in partnership with Chattahoochee Hills, Chattahoochee Outdoors and Trust for Public Land. Riverkeeper describes the route as moderate moving water suitable for beginners and experienced paddlers.[2]
Volunteers must bring their own kayak or canoe, paddling gear, water and lunch or snacks. Riverkeeper says it can provide a few sit-on-top kayaks, subject to availability.[2]
Riverkeeper lists registration as open, with a signup link on its event page. The organizer says it will email the meeting address and specific trip details a week before the outing, with additional information in the confirmation email.[2]
Allow time for the shuttle: after unloading boats at the put-in, drivers will take their vehicles to the takeout and return by school bus. Passengers who rode with someone else will stay with the boats during the shuttle.[2]
