PATH400 Segment 2 targets November start, with $1.2 million in oversight up for a vote
Staff anticipates a three-year build. The Oct. 20 proposals cover engineering, inspection and materials testing, with federal funds paying 80% of those costs.
Explore the source documentsSandy Springs staff expects construction on PATH400’s Segment 2 to begin in November and last three years. Before that scheduled start, City Council is set to consider about $1.21 million in engineering, inspection and materials-testing contracts Oct. 20.[1][2]
The project map shows Segment 2 following Ga. 400 north from Windsor Parkway toward Ridgeview Park, between the extension’s Segments 1 and 3.[1]
The two proposed awards serve different purposes: $728,038 to AtkinsRéalis USA for construction engineering and inspection, and $479,047.31 to United Consulting Group for materials testing. They are separate from the $15.76 million construction contract that council approved in December 2025, according to the staff report.[1]
Staff says the project’s scope, the city’s other transportation construction work and federal compliance requirements make additional inspection support necessary. Testing would check work including foundations, retaining walls, reinforcing steel, masonry and concrete against project standards.[1]
Federal funds routed through the Georgia Department of Transportation would cover 80% of each support contract. The combined local share would be $241,417.06. Staff says the money is already budgeted and allocated; the requested action is to award the contracts.[1]
These remain proposed awards, and November is a staff construction schedule—not a report that Segment 2 work has begun. The council meeting starts at 6 p.m. Oct. 20 in the Studio Theatre at City Hall, 1 Galambos Way.[1][2]
