Local brief
PATH400 Segment 2 gets a $728,038 inspection award
Federal funds are budgeted to cover 80% of the oversight cost. Staff projects a November construction start and a three-year build.
Sandy Springs, Georgia, City Council approved a $728,038 engineering and inspection award to AtkinsRéalis USA on Oct. 20 for PATH400’s Segment 2—putting outside construction oversight in place for the trail extension.[1][2]
Public Works’ pre-vote report projects a November 2026 construction start and a three-year build. The project map places Segment 2 along Ga. 400 north from Windsor Parkway toward Ridgeview Park, between Segments 1 and 3.[2]
The signed resolution confirms approval of the engineering and inspection proposal described in our earlier PATH400 preview. This is not a new construction-contract award: staff says council approved the separate $15.76 million construction contract in December 2025.[1][2]
Staff says the project’s scope, the city’s other transportation construction work and federal compliance requirements make additional inspection support necessary. Federal funds routed through the Georgia Department of Transportation are budgeted to cover $582,430.40, or 80%, of the oversight cost. The local share is $145,607.60.[2]
Council authorized the city manager to execute the agreement subject to city attorney and finance approval. The resolution does not establish that the contract has been signed or that Segment 2 field construction has begun; November remains the staff-projected start.[1][2]
