A proposed $36.84 million fire-safety phase for Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport’s Concourse B would push the construction contract’s ceiling to $108.84 million—and still leave Concourse C for a later funding request.[1]
Atlanta City Council is scheduled to consider Resolution 26-R-4322 at its Nov. 2 meeting at 1 p.m. The Transportation Committee recommended it unanimously on Oct. 28, but council action remains pending in the packet. It is on the consent agenda, where items receive a collective adoption vote unless pulled for discussion.[1][2]
The $108.84 million figure is the wider contract limit—not the allocation for Concourse B alone, as our earlier preview explained. The full resolution puts the funding in sequence: an initial $33.5 million allowed completion of pedestrian-mall-level improvements, followed by $38.5 million authorized for Concourse A.[1]
The contract is with NSMS, a joint venture of New South Construction, McCarthy Building Companies and Synergy Development Partners. The resolution describes a construction-manager-at-risk arrangement in which construction elements receive funding incrementally. The aviation department says it will request Concourse C funding later, so the proposed ceiling should not be read as a final price for the entire program.[1][2]
The funding provisions authorize code-driven fire-safety work on Concourse B but do not spell out the individual upgrades or a construction timetable.[1]
