Local brief
2027 zoning calendar approved; first listed deadline is December 29
The calendar accompanying the resolution puts the opening commission hearing on January 25. Staff may shift individual cases if review needs more time.
Powder Springs, Georgia, has approved its 2027 Planning & Zoning Commission meeting schedule—and the first application cutoff listed on the accompanying calendar falls before the new year: December 29, 2026.[1][2][3]
Council voted unanimously November 2, according to the city’s action summary, completing the approval step that was still ahead in our earlier calendar preview. The meeting agenda labeled its calendar attachment a draft; the action summary confirms approval of the schedule but does not reproduce the individual dates.[1][2]
That attachment lists a January 14 Planning & Zoning agenda meeting, a January 25 commission public hearing and vote, a January 27 council work session and a February 1 council public hearing and vote for the opening cycle. The calendar covers rezonings, special uses, variances and developments of regional impact.[3]
Meeting the application cutoff does not guarantee a particular hearing date. The calendar expressly allows city staff to move an application to a different hearing if it needs more time for review and consideration.[3]
For residents following a case, Planning & Zoning agenda meetings and public hearings are both listed at 7 p.m. at City Hall, 4483 Pineview Drive. The rooms differ: agenda meetings use the Gallery Space; public hearings use Council Chambers.[3]
