A held Atlanta ordinance would allow existing structures at an Oldfield Road NW property to have their lowest floors elevated two feet above base flood elevation. Ordinance 26-O-1124 would waive the city’s ordinary flood-elevation requirement for that property.

The ordinance says Atlanta normally requires the greater of three feet above base flood elevation or two feet above the highest observed flood. The proposed waiver would direct Watershed Management and City Planning to allow permits or approvals under the lower standard, while retaining all other city-code requirements.

The City Utilities Committee’s Sept. 29 minutes retain the hold and list Oct. 5 at 1 p.m. as the next checkpoint. The record supports a proposed exception, not permission already granted to carry out the work.
