Josey Creek lift station cleared for construction bids

Aldermen authorized bidding October 20. Utilities staff target construction from March through fall 2027, with long-lead materials already ordered.

Starkville aldermen authorized advertising for construction bids for the Josey Creek lift station on October 20—a step toward hiring a builder, not a construction-contract award.[1][2][3][4][5][6]

The request passed as part of the vote approving the official agenda, which expressly included consent items. That resolves the bid-authorization question left open in our earlier report on the materials order and construction timetable.[1][2][3][4][5][6]

Utilities staff said design was wrapping up and long-lead materials had already been approved and ordered. Their October 20 update projected construction beginning in March 2027 and finishing by fall 2027. Those dates are staff expectations, not a confirmed construction start.[6]

The funding plan lists $700,000 under “MDA SDG” and $1.2 million from OCEDA—a combined $1.9 million—with the remainder coming from water/sewer capital improvement funds. The staff sheet does not give a total project cost or say how much those capital funds would need to cover.[6]
