Materials ordered, March start targeted for Josey Creek lift station

Utilities staff project a fall 2027 finish. Their October 20 bid request lists $1.9 million from two funding sources, plus water/sewer capital funds.

Starkville Utilities has already ordered long-lead materials for the Josey Creek lift station and is targeting construction from March through fall 2027, according to a staff update prepared for the Mississippi city's October 20 Board of Aldermen meeting.[1]

Staff said design was “wrapping up” and asked aldermen for permission to advertise for construction bids. The long-lead materials had already been approved and ordered, with delivery anticipated when needed for installation.[1]

The funding plan lists $700,000 under “MDA SDG” and $1.2 million from OCEDA—a combined $1.9 million—with the remainder coming from water/sewer capital improvement funds. The sheet does not state the project's total cost or how much those capital funds would need to cover.[1]

The construction dates are staff projections, not a confirmed start. The agenda materials reviewed establish the request to seek bids, but not whether aldermen approved it or awarded a construction contract.[1]
