Nov. 4 agenda marks Shul at Chastain variance deferred to Dec. 2

The agenda clarifies the schedule for the relocation request at 4930 Long Island Terrace; the city’s register lists a 6 p.m. December hearing.

Sandy Springs’ Nov. 4 Board of Appeals agenda marks The Shul at Chastain’s setback variance deferred to the Dec. 2, 2026, meeting. The city’s case register lists that December hearing at 6 p.m.[1][2][3]

The notation answers the Nov. 4 scheduling question left open in our earlier hearing-date update, which reported December’s date from the register. The agenda does not explain the delay or document a completed board vote.[1][2]

Applicant Kesher Torah of Sandy Springs, Inc., doing business as The Shul at Chastain, proposes moving the Orthodox congregation from 5075 Roswell Road to an existing building at 4930 Long Island Terrace. Its application calls for minor interior modifications, not an expansion of the building’s footprint.[3]

Case V-26-53 seeks relief from Section 7.4.1 to allow the worship building within 100 feet, and parking within 50 feet, of a Protected Neighborhood District. The register still labels the request “Staff Review.”[2]
