Service pact headed to council assigns warming and cooling centers to cities

Chattahoochee Hills is scheduled to consider the agreement Nov. 5, ahead of a year-end state deadline. The center provisions name funding sources, not a site or hours.

Warming and cooling centers would be a city responsibility inside Chattahoochee Hills under a service pact headed to the City Council. The Fulton County strategy assigns that service to cities within their municipal boundaries and to the county in unincorporated areas.[1][2]

That is a division of responsibility—not an announcement that a local center is opening. The warming-and-cooling section says the service was added to this strategy submission and lists general funds and grants as funding sources. It does not identify a Chattahoochee Hills facility, operating hours or city-specific budget.[2]

The broader agreement also records Fulton County as the 911-service provider for Chattahoochee Hills, Palmetto, Fairburn and Union City.[2]

There is a year-end deadline behind the agreement. Fulton County’s resolution says the Georgia Department of Community Affairs required the county and its 15 municipalities to submit a service-delivery strategy and obtain state verification by Dec. 31, 2026.[3]

County commissioners approved the strategy resolution Oct. 7. Chattahoochee Hills’ scheduled action is separate: authorizing its mayor to execute the agreement. County approval also is not state verification; the resolution authorizes submission for that review, and the records reviewed do not establish that verification has been completed.[1][3][4]

The city agenda lists consideration of the authorization as Item 26-071 at the Nov. 5 meeting, scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at City Hall, 6505 Rico Road.[1]
