Arts beyond Serenbe: a county-backed pilot targets Cedar Grove

A September report describes fall-and-winter planning. The original proposal called for free and low-cost arts at Cedar Grove and City Hall.

Chattahoochee Hills staff spent September planning fall and winter activities for a Fulton County-funded cultural arts pilot—a program conceived to widen access beyond established creative hubs such as Serenbe.[1][2]

The city's January application proposed monthly visual and performing arts workshops, rotating exhibitions and community performances at the Cedar Grove Cultural Arts Center and City Hall's Art Room and Gallery. Its proposed July 2026–June 2027 program emphasized free and low-cost instruction and events in rural and underserved areas.[2][3]

Council unanimously approved support for the application and a 50/50 city match on January 6. The staff request paired a $20,000 county grant request with a $20,000 city match; the application described the match as cash and in-kind support. Those are application figures, not verified amounts awarded or spent.[2][3]

The September report describes coordination with Mayor Pro Tem Ruby Foster and community partners on venues, performers, budget documentation, payments and grant-reimbursement requirements. It confirms a county-funded effort was being organized, but supplies no class dates or registration details. The records reviewed do not establish the county's final award amount or actual city spending.[1][2]
