Staff seek Barrett Parkway sidewalk link as part of Macedonia Road apartment plan

The recommendation includes an accessible ramp at Macedonia Road and Ernest Barrett Parkway and a connection that would also serve existing Crofthouse West Cobb residents.

In this report: recommended · Sep 10, 2026

Powder Springs staff recommend that the 242-apartment proposal at 2761 Macedonia Road include a sidewalk connection to Ernest Barrett Parkway. A Sept. 10 memorandum calls for linking the development’s planned frontage sidewalk to an existing sidewalk south of the intersection, extending around its southwest corner.

Staff also recommend an accessible ramp connecting the crosswalk to the new sidewalk. The report describes the corner as having a pedestrian signal mounted in grass but no other pedestrian infrastructure. It says the connection would also improve access for hundreds of existing Crofthouse West Cobb residents across Macedonia Road.

The recommendations accompany applications to annex 10.114 acres into Powder Springs, change the zoning from R-20 to mixed use and allow greater residential density. The proposal includes approximately 5,000 square feet of ground-floor commercial space. The pedestrian work is described here as a staff recommendation, not a council approval.
