Local brief
Two-home South Elizabeth Place rezoning wins 10–0 Council approval
Neighborhood Planning Unit J recommended denial. Atlanta’s Council adopted the amended zoning change Nov. 2, but its minutes do not spell out the final conditions.
Atlanta’s City Council voted 10–0 on Nov. 2 to approve an amended rezoning for a two-home proposal at 598 South Elizabeth Place NW, despite Neighborhood Planning Unit J’s recommendation to deny it, according to draft action minutes.[1][2]
The zoning change is from R-4A to R-4B single-family residential, retaining the Northwest Atlanta Affordable Workforce Housing Overlay. The application’s site plan in the Council packet depicts two detached, single-story houses, each labeled 1,219 square feet.[2]
Planning staff and the Zoning Review Board recommended conditional approval. The Council vote follows the Zoning Committee’s Oct. 26 endorsement, which we previously reported; this time, the action is Council adoption rather than another recommendation.[1][2]
The minutes record adoption “as amended” without spelling out the final development conditions. The packet’s housing layout describes the proposal, and the zoning vote is not itself a building permit.[1][2]
