Staff urges another wait for Peachtree Battle’s 17-foot retaining wall

A rescheduled neighborhood planning unit meeting prompted a request to defer the home project to Dec. 3. The Nov. 5 board agenda still lists the case.

Atlanta planning staff recommends another delay for the home project seeking a 17-foot front-yard retaining wall at 1064 Peachtree Battle Avenue NW. A memo dated Nov. 5 recommends that the Board of Zoning Adjustment defer case V-26-109 to Dec. 3.[1][2][3]

The neighborhood planning unit’s general body meeting was rescheduled, leaving it unable to provide a formal recommendation before the scheduled board hearing, according to the memo. The NPU requested more time, and staff supports that request.[1]

As we reported in our earlier hearing preview, the application combines two height requests for a new single-family home: a building rising 37 feet 4 inches instead of 35 feet, and a front-yard retaining wall of 17 feet instead of six feet. The board had already deferred the wall request on Sept. 10 and assigned it to Nov. 5.[2][3]

The Nov. 5 agenda lists the case for the board’s noon meeting in second-floor Council Chambers. Dec. 3 is staff’s recommended return date—not a confirmed replacement hearing date or permission for either height increase.[1][2]
