Northside Pumping Station’s $103,000 solar hookup wins committee backing
Cherry Street would pay the connection cost under the proposal, which received a 4–0 recommendation. Full council consideration is listed for Nov. 2.
A plan to connect solar at Atlanta’s Northside Pumping Station to Georgia Power’s system won a 4–0 recommendation from the City Utilities Committee on Oct. 27, according to draft minutes. Cherry Street Energy, not the city, would pay the estimated $102,997.98 connection and installation cost.[1][2]
The connection would allow the solar installation to supply electricity used at the station on Moore’s Mill Road. Georgia Power has determined that additional interconnection facilities are needed, the resolution says. Under the existing solar procurement agreement, Cherry Street is responsible for the equipment, facilities and resources needed to perform its services and would bear all interconnection costs.[2]
The vote advances the contractor-funded hookup we previewed, with full council consideration listed for Nov. 2 at 1 p.m. It is a favorable committee recommendation, not final council approval.[1]
Resolution 26-R-4332 would authorize the mayor or a designee to sign the agreement with Georgia Power. Even if the council adopts it, the agreement would not bind the city until it receives legal approval, is executed and attested to by the municipal clerk, and is delivered to Georgia Power.[2]
