Hartsfield-Jackson’s ice-fighting trailer gets a $140,000 Council go-ahead

The 15–0 vote authorizes equipment to make and apply liquid brine—not just buy the liquid. Delivery timing remains unverified.

Atlanta City Council has authorized up to $140,000 for a brine-making trailer to help Hartsfield-Jackson handle snow and ice. The Oct. 19 consent vote was 15–0.[1]

The purchase covers one trailer and related equipment to produce, store, transport and apply liquid brine—not simply buy a supply of the liquid. The resolution describes it as a one-time capital purchase for airport winter-weather operations.[2]

The full Council vote moves the plan beyond the committee backing we reported earlier. Resolution 26-R-4263 authorizes an agreement with Brine Technologies, Inc., with payment from the Airport Renewal and Extension Fund.[1][2]

When the equipment would arrive—and whether it would be available for the coming winter—remains unverified. The agreement would run from execution through May 30, 2027, with no renewals. That is its end date, not an equipment-delivery deadline.[2]

Council authorization is not a completed purchase. The agreement must receive legal approval, be executed by the mayor or a designee, be attested to by the clerk and be delivered to the vendor before binding Atlanta. The records reviewed do not establish that those steps have occurred.[1][2]
