Atlanta panel backs up to $140,000 for airport brine-making trailer
The equipment would produce and apply liquid brine for snow and ice control. Council consideration is listed for Oct. 19; delivery timing remains unknown.
Explore the source documentsAtlanta’s Transportation Committee voted 5–0 Oct. 14 to recommend a purchase of up to $140,000 for a brine-making trailer and related equipment to help Hartsfield-Jackson handle snow and ice, according to draft minutes.[1]
The committee vote was not final purchase authorization. Resolution 26-R-4263 is listed for City Council consideration Oct. 19 at 1 p.m.[1]
The one-time purchase would equip the airport to produce, store, transport and apply liquid brine—not simply buy a supply of the liquid. Brine Technologies, Inc. would provide the equipment through a competitively awarded Sourcewell purchasing contract, with payment from the Airport Renewal and Extension Fund.[1]
The proposed agreement would run from execution through May 30, 2027, with no renewals. That is the agreement’s end date, not an equipment-delivery deadline: the resolution does not establish when the trailer would arrive or whether it would be available for the coming winter.[1]
Even after authorization, the agreement would not bind Atlanta until legal approval, mayoral execution, clerk attestation and delivery of the agreement to the vendor.[1]
