Council clears up to $200,000 for Habersham–Valley roundabout design
Buckhead CID would manage engineering and design under the authorized agreement. The 10–0 vote is not a construction award.
Atlanta City Council voted 10–0 on Nov. 2 to authorize an agreement with the Buckhead Community Improvement District to manage engineering and design for a roundabout at Habersham Road and Valley Road. The spending ceiling is $200,000, according to the resolution and the council’s draft action minutes.[1][2]
The design proposal we reported before the meeting now has Council approval—but the money is for engineering and design, not construction of the roundabout.[1][2]
Resolution 26-R-4269, sponsored by Councilmember Mary Norwood and adopted in the Transportation Committee’s substitute form, authorizes the mayor or a designee to execute the project management agreement on behalf of the Atlanta Department of Transportation.[1][2]
Council approval is not the same as a signed agreement. The resolution says the agreement becomes binding only after the mayor or a designee signs it, the municipal clerk attests to it and it is delivered to the district. The records reviewed do not establish whether those steps have occurred, or a construction budget or start date.[2]
