Council approves airport reserve shift, including $2.5 million for firefighting vehicles

The $3.5 million transfer passed 10–0 on Nov. 2. A professional-services allocation remains unclear in the council packet.

Atlanta City Council approved a $3.5 million airport reserve transfer on Nov. 2, including $2.5 million for firefighting vehicles at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. The vote was 10–0, according to the council’s draft action minutes.[1][2]

Ordinance 26-O-1584 moves the money from reserves within the fiscal 2027 Airport Renewal and Extension Fund. It is a budget reallocation—not confirmation that vehicles have been purchased or delivered.[1][2]

We previously reported the proposed reserve shift ahead of committee review. The November council packet retains the unclear professional-services entry under Properties, printed as “$1,00,000.” Subtracting the vehicle allocation from the stated $3.5 million total leaves $1 million, but the packet does not clarify the intended figure.[2]

The ordinance also does not describe those professional services or specify how many firefighting vehicles the funding would buy.[2]
