Local brief
Council adopts $62,147 in water refunds; pre-vote figures differ by $3,000
The two listed refunds total $65,147.04. Council’s minutes packet repeats the same figures without reconciling them.
Atlanta City Council adopted a $62,147.04 water-and-sewer refund resolution 15–0 on Oct. 19, according to draft action minutes. But the pre-vote packet’s two listed payments add up to $3,000 more than that authorization.[1][2]
The attachment lists $29,194.50 for “2600 PTREE WEST,” at 2600 Peachtree Road NE, and $35,952.54 for “FASTENAL COMPANY GA 500,” at 4600 Frederick Drive SW. Together, those amounts total $65,147.04—not the $62,147.04 printed beneath the table.[2]
We reported the $3,000 mismatch before the vote. The minutes now establish that Council adopted substitute resolution 26-R-3995 with the $62,147.04 total. The Council minutes packet repeats the same recipient amounts and inconsistent total without reconciling them.[2][3]
For both accounts, the pre-vote attachment attributes the credit balance to delayed notice of a customer’s meter abandonment or another account-status change. The resolution text requires outstanding water-and-sewer charges to be deducted when refunds are issued, but identifies no offset explaining the $3,000 difference.[2][3]
Council adoption is not confirmation that the refunds have been paid. The records reviewed establish the Council vote, not payment or the mayor’s action on the resolution.[1][3]
