The Oct. 13 agenda lists a proposal to ratify work performed April through July and pay outstanding Pye-Barker bills involving five city facilities.
Explore the source documentsAtlanta’s City Utilities Committee is scheduled Oct. 13 to consider paying up to $63,763.62 in outstanding bills for fire-protection work already performed at Public Works facilities and on vehicles.[1]
The proposal concerns past work, not a new round of inspections. Ordinance 26-O-1552 would ratify services provided by Pye-Barker Fire & Safety, LLC, from April 24 through July 29 and authorize the city’s chief financial officer to pay invoices approved by the Public Works commissioner.[2]
The ordinance says the work addressed immediate life-safety and regulatory requirements to protect employees, facilities and vehicles. It describes fire-alarm repairs and monitoring; sprinkler, hydrant, emergency-lighting and extinguisher inspections; and replacement of batteries, smoke detectors and other safety equipment.[2]
The invoices cover services at five city facilities: 23 and 128 Claire Drive SE, 315 Chester Avenue SE, 1120 North Avenue NW and 1540 Northside Drive NW.[2]
Full Council unanimously referred the measure to committee Oct. 5. The Oct. 13 meeting is scheduled for 10 a.m., with the payment proposal listed for second reading—not as an approved expenditure.[1][2]
The ordinance does not explain why the invoices remain outstanding or why after-the-fact ratification is being sought. The scheduled reading does not establish that payment has been authorized or made.[1][2]
