Atlanta's proposed extension of Rental Car Center operations and maintenance at Hartsfield-Jackson follows two unsuccessful solicitations for replacement services. The supporting ordinance says all proponents in solicitations that closed Sept. 22, 2025, and July 31, 2026, were deemed nonresponsive.

The Department of Aviation cites the risk of disrupting services at the 24/7 facility and seeks more time to complete a new procurement. Ordinance 26-O-1526 would add up to $4,906,888 and extend Meridian Urban Joint Venture, LLC's agreement month to month from Oct. 1, 2026, through March 31, 2027, unless terminated earlier following a successful replacement award.

The Transportation Committee recommended the extension 4–0 Sept. 30. That previously reported recommendation does not establish an executed amendment: the proposed terms require legal approval, mayoral execution, clerk attestation and delivery before binding the city. The packet lists Oct. 5 as the council checkpoint but does not establish its outcome.
