Helen Taylor’s work for children anchors a proposed city tribute
The October 20 proposal recalls her Brickfire leadership and a 2025 Westside splash-pad dedication, alongside her minority-business advocacy.
Helen Rose Mason Taylor’s work for children is at the center of a resolution prepared for Starkville’s October 20 meeting—one that recalls both the Brickfire Project and a Westside splash pad dedicated in her honor in 2025.[1]
The proposed tribute describes Taylor as a longtime resident of Hancock Circle in the Needmore community. It credits her leadership at Brickfire with helping its early-childhood education program achieve a Level III Child Care Facility rating from the State of Mississippi.[1]
The resolution also recognizes work beyond children’s programs: her participation in the Oktibbeha County Economic Development Authority and the Greater Starkville Development Partnership, including her role as a founding member of the Starkville Oktibbeha Minority Business Alliance committee.[1]
This is a proposed tribute, not a confirmed city action. The version in the October 20 agenda packet leaves the motion and vote fields blank; it does not establish whether aldermen adopted the resolution.[1]
