A withdrawn bid is back—and could cut $412,517 from Lake Forrest sidewalk work
Council will consider replacing JHC with Ohmshiv on Oct. 20. Staff says Ohmshiv now agrees to the $1.09 million bid it withdrew over a perceived error.
Explore the source documentsThe lowest bidder for Lake Forrest’s second sidewalk phase withdrew over a perceived pricing error. Now, city staff says, the company is willing to honor its price—and staff wants Sandy Springs City Council to undo its replacement award, cutting the construction-services price by $412,517.25.[1]
The proposed switch is on the Oct. 20 agenda. It would revoke the award to JHC Corporation and award the work to Ohmshiv Construction LLC for $1,091,667.75. JHC’s bid was $1,504,185.[1][2]
According to the staff report, Ohmshiv withdrew because of a perceived gross error in its submitted bid schedule. Council then awarded the contract to the next-lowest responsive bidder, JHC, on Sept. 1.[1]
Staff says Ohmshiv agreed to complete the project at its original price after discussions with the city’s legal department. The report does not detail those discussions or explain what changed the company’s assessment of its bid.[1]
The savings remain conditional: council could instead leave JHC’s award in place. The meeting begins at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 20, in the Studio Theatre at City Hall, 1 Galambos Way.[1]
