Local brief
Which transportation fixes come first? Southern Fulton wants your input
An eight-city planning effort is seeking feedback ahead of a spring 2028 adoption target. It will guide transportation spending—not fund construction itself.
Chattahoochee Hills is asking residents to help shape transportation priorities for eight cities in Georgia’s southern Fulton County. The Southern Fulton Comprehensive Transportation Plan will cover roads, transit, bicycle and pedestrian facilities, trails and other mobility needs, with public feedback helping shape a project list for future funding.[1][2]
This is a chance to influence the list, not a construction announcement. The plan’s website says it “won’t build or fund projects directly.” Instead, it is intended to guide local, state and federal transportation spending for five years, until the next update.[2]
The published schedule puts kickoff in fall 2026 and city adoption in spring 2028. In between, it calls for assessing existing conditions, analyzing needs and holding two rounds of public outreach. Draft recommendations are slated for summer through fall 2027, followed by final recommendations in winter 2028.[2]
To weigh in, use the regional transportation survey linked from the plan website and the city’s notice. Neither the notice nor the plan website lists a survey deadline. The website also offers email updates for future surveys, meetings and draft materials—a way to follow how today’s concerns turn into recommendations.[1][2][3]
