Chattahoochee Hills proposal would open agritourism permits to farms under 10 acres

Chattahoochee Hills staff have proposed eliminating the 10-acre minimum for agritourism Special Administrative Permits while adding limits on how many visitors may be on a farm at once. The smaller amendment listed as Item 1 on the September 17 Planning Commission agenda would leave the current definition of agritourism unchanged.

In the RL zoning district, permitted farms of three acres or less would be limited to 10 visitors at a time. Farms larger than three acres through 10 acres would be capped at 25; those larger than 10 acres through 30 acres at 50; and those larger than 30 acres at 100.

Staff describe this as an alternative to a separate proposal that would divide agritourism into light and heavy uses and require Council approval for larger groups. The memorandum schedules a City Council public hearing on the smaller proposal for October 6 at 6:30 p.m.; it presents proposed rules, not an adopted change.
