Lake Forrest sidewalk: Staff recommended $600,000 more for Phase 2

Construction bids exceeded the original budget estimates, staff said in the September 1 council agenda packet.

The additional money was intended to cover anticipated costs and contingencies for a planned six-foot sidewalk along Lake Forrest Drive's west side.

What changes

Staff recommended shifting existing funds within the TSPLOST-2021 program to the sidewalk project. Staff said the program had sufficient money for the transfer and assessed the proposal as having no negative financial impact on the city.

The details

Staff also recommended awarding JHC Corporation a $1,504,185 construction contract for Phase 2.

City plans covered two stretches on the road's west side: from the city limit to 4822 Lake Forrest Drive, and from 25 Pine Lake Drive to 4990 Lake Forrest Drive. The design also included a two-foot landscape strip, curb and gutter.
