Chattahoochee Hills growth plan keeps 70% green-space goal; staff urge adoption

Chattahoochee Hills staff recommend adopting the city's 2026 Comprehensive Plan, a 20-year guide for development and land preservation. The update reinforces the city's existing commitment to keeping at least 70% of its land as permanent green space while guiding village-scale growth.

A September 17 staff memorandum says state review is complete and the Department of Community Affairs found that the plan adequately addresses minimum planning standards. Most advisory comments were incorporated, but staff describe the proposed adoption draft as substantially the same document submitted for review.

The packet's revision list includes an added land-use strategy stating, “Data centers are not allowed within the City of Chattahoochee Hills.” That wording is presented as part of the draft comprehensive plan, rather than a new zoning action.

The Planning Commission is scheduled to consider an adoption recommendation at its September 17 meeting at 7 p.m. Commissioners can recommend that City Council adopt the plan as written, adopt it with amendments or not adopt it at this time.
