Observation: Observed multiple female food employees actively preparing food and handling orders with hair longer than 1/2 inch that was not properly restrained. Corrective Action: All employees were instructed that hair longer than 1/2 inch must be properly restrained to prevent hair from contacting exposed food and food-contact surfaces. Employees were instructed to use an approved hair restraint, such as a hairnet or other effective restraint, as required by the Food Code. Employees were also instructed to properly restrain facial hair longer than 1/2 inch. Applicable Requirement – Hair Restraints: Employees preparing or handling food shall use effective and clean hair restraints, such as hairnets or other approved restraints, worn properly to restrain loose hair, including beards and mustaches longer than 1/2 inch. Specifically, one food handler was wearing bracelets and rings, two other employees were wearing bracelets. CA: Except for a plain ring, such as a wedding band, food employees may not wear jewelry (including medical information jewelry) on their hands and arms while preparing food.
