Velma Street applicant seeks delay on five-space parking reduction

Atlanta staff recommends postponement to Nov. 12 so the applicant can keep working with the neighborhood planning unit—not approval of the requested exceptions.

The applicant seeking fewer required parking spaces at 1970 Velma Street SE has asked for more time to work with the neighborhood planning unit, or NPU. An Oct. 8 memorandum to Atlanta’s Board of Zoning Adjustment supports the request and recommends postponement to Nov. 12.

Case V-26-134 seeks permission to provide 17 off-street parking spaces instead of the required 22. It also requests a variance allowing maximum lot coverage of 55.7%. Those are two separate limits on the proposal: how much parking it must provide and how much of the site development can occupy.

Staff’s support is for more time, not approval of those exceptions. The memorandum records neither a board vote granting the deferral nor a decision on the parking or lot-coverage request.
