A proposed study of a seventh Atlanta Police Department patrol zone remained held in the Public Safety and Legal Administration Committee’s Sept. 28 minutes. Resolution 26-R-3941 asks police, in coordination with the mayor’s office, to conduct a comprehensive feasibility study.

The proposed analysis would cover calls for service and response times, workloads across existing zones, potential boundaries, and staffing, equipment, facility and budget needs. It would also consider community engagement and comparisons with similarly sized police agencies. Results and recommendations would be requested within 120 days after adoption—not from the committee hold.

The minutes note an Aug. 24 hold at the sponsor’s request and list Oct. 5 at 1 p.m. as the next checkpoint. The held request does not establish that the study has begun or that another zone has been authorized.
