Local brief
Rental-commission membership proposal remains on Atlanta’s Oct. 13 held docket
The proposed roster includes district appointees, Airbnb and Vrbo. The held text still calls for a July 1 report—a past proposed date, not proof of a missed deadline.
Explore the source documentsA proposal to revise Atlanta’s short-term-rental commission membership remains on the Community Development/Human Services Committee’s Oct. 13 held docket. The proposed roster would bring together council-district appointees, city officials and lodging-industry representatives.[1]
Councilmember Byron D. Amos’s resolution, 26-R-3105, would specify one appointee of each district councilmember, the mayor or a designee, Airbnb, Vrbo, the city’s Law and City Planning departments, and the Georgia Hotel and Lodging Association. Its supporting text describes the commission’s purpose as outreach and education about rental policy, applications and existing law.[1]
One provision is already out of step with the upcoming meeting: the held text calls for a final report July 1, 2026. That proposed date has passed. The packet does not establish whether the provision will be revised or whether a report was delivered, and it does not support calling the date a missed, binding deadline.[1]
This is a separate resolution from the ordinance proposing a rental office, registry and platform-verification system. Council returned the membership measure as held Oct. 5; its Oct. 13 listing does not establish adoption of the roster or promise substantive reconsideration. The committee meeting is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. at City Hall.[1]
