Panel backs up to $200,000 for City of Refuge job training, shifts funding years

Two $100,000 installments would now come from the FY2027 and FY2028 budgets. The committee recommendation is not final council approval.

A proposed city donation of up to $200,000 for City of Refuge job training won a unanimous recommendation from Atlanta’s Finance/Executive Committee on Oct. 28—with both installments moved to later fiscal-year budgets, according to the committee’s draft minutes.[1][2]

The amended Resolution 26-R-4276 calls for $100,000 from the fiscal 2027 budget and another $100,000 from fiscal 2028. The original proposal assigned those installments to fiscal 2026 and fiscal 2027. The total proposed donation remains unchanged.[1][2]

The money would support vocational training and participant services at City of Refuge’s Workforce Innovation Hub. The resolution describes courses in high-demand industries, hiring events, outreach and wraparound support, aimed at low-income residents of surrounding neighborhoods who otherwise would lack access to high-quality training and employer networks.[2]

The committee action is a recommendation, not final approval of the donation or evidence that money has been paid. The minutes list the measure’s next consideration for Nov. 2 at 1 p.m.[1]
