Local brief
Nearly 10 acres of parking proposed along Regina Drive
The Carey Park plan would reuse paving on a 16.8-acre site. An October 21 draft agenda lists the permit as awaiting a zoning-board hearing.
A Carey Park proposal would devote 9.8 acres to park-for-hire parking on both sides of Regina Drive NW, according to a preliminary site plan attached to an Atlanta special-use permit request. The full site covers 16.8 acres, including properties on James Jackson Parkway and Hightower Road.[1][2][3]
The application, U-25-40, was filed November 25, 2025. The proposed ordinance identifies Phillip Russ, as manager of LWH Carey Park LLC, as the owner and Eric Kronberg of Kronberg Urbanists + Architects as the applicant.[2]
The November 10, 2025 plan calls for keeping existing paving where it is intact and adding gravel to stabilize unpaved areas. It also shows an existing building retained for office or similar use, with fencing around the parking-use boundary and gates at curb cuts.[1]
The intended operation is not fully explained. While the permit request and the plan's acreage table describe park-for-hire parking, the drawing's legend labels the outlined area “industrial outdoor storage.” Those materials do not establish a parking-space count or the types of vehicles to be accommodated. The plan also marks a potential stream and buffer on the eastern side as still to be determined.[1][2]
This is a proposal, not an announced parking-lot opening. Atlanta's draft Zoning Committee agenda dated October 21 still listed ordinance 26-O-1109 and case U-25-40 under items pending a Zoning Review Board public hearing. That listing supplies neither a hearing date nor an approval.[4]
