Committee files Amsterdam Avenue duplex rezoning after staff sought withdrawal
The Oct. 26 vote was unanimous, but it was not rezoning approval. Staff had sought withdrawal because it said application materials were insufficient.
Atlanta’s Zoning Committee voted unanimously Oct. 26 to file—not approve—the proposed duplex rezoning at 573 Amsterdam Avenue NE, according to draft meeting minutes.[1][2]
The 0.229-acre request would change the property from R-4 single-family residential zoning to R-5 two-family residential zoning while retaining the Beltline Overlay. The submitted site plan calls for a new duplex. The legislation is ordinance 26-O-1386, zoning case Z-26-29.[1][2][3]
As we previously reported, planning staff sought withdrawal in an Oct. 8 memorandum, saying the applicant had not provided sufficient application materials. The memo does not identify which materials were insufficient or say whether the applicant agreed to withdraw.[4]
The committee followed recommendations from staff and the Zoning Review Board to file the case; Neighborhood Planning Unit F made no recommendation. The minutes document a committee action—not a completed applicant withdrawal or a final City Council decision.[1][4]
