Atlanta tree-preservation proposal on Oct. 13 docket after September hold
Mary Norwood’s proposed tree-protection changes aim to support Atlanta’s 50% canopy goal. The committee agenda does not promise a vote.
Explore the source documentsA proposal to strengthen Atlanta’s tree-preservation standards is listed on the Community Development/Human Services Committee’s Oct. 13 agenda, following a September hold for more information and review.[1]
Councilmember Mary Norwood’s ordinance, 26-O-1533, would amend the city’s tree-protection code to support its stated goal of 50% tree-canopy cover. That is the proposal’s objective—not a measurement of Atlanta’s current canopy or evidence that the changes would achieve the target.[1]
The committee held the measure Sept. 29 for “additional information and further review.” Its placement among held papers for Oct. 13 does not establish that members will revise it or take a vote. The agenda records no adoption.[1]
The meeting is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. in the Larry M. Dingle Committee Room at Atlanta City Hall, 55 Trinity Avenue.[1]
