Atlanta sets Nov. 12 hearing for Hillside Drive building-decision appeal

The zoning board postponed the case Oct. 1. Its new notice gives a return date but leaves the underlying dispute—and a conflicting sign-posting deadline—unexplained.

An appeal challenging an Atlanta Office of Buildings decision concerning 286 Hillside Drive NW is scheduled to return to the Board of Zoning Adjustment for a Nov. 12 public hearing, according to an Oct. 12 city letter.[1]

Roy Edward and Melanie King brought the appeal, numbered V-26-122. The letter lists Jeffrey Thomas and Casey Moore as the property owners and says the board deferred the case at its Oct. 1 hearing. That was a postponement, not a decision on the appeal’s merits.[1]

The letter does not identify the administrative decision being challenged, any associated permit or construction work, or the Kings’ grounds for appealing. Those omissions leave the substance of the dispute unresolved in the notice.[1]

The notice also contains a date conflict. It assigns the hearing to Nov. 12, 2026, but instructs the appellants to repost the property’s public-notice sign by Oct. 29, 2029—nearly three years after the hearing. The printed instruction does not establish a consistent posting deadline for the upcoming hearing.[1]
