Atlanta has submitted projects for a state Tire Products grant of up to $250,000 to support uses of scrap-tire-derived materials, including rubberized materials for paving and improving city streets. Ordinance 26-O-1561, listed in the Transportation Committee’s Sept. 30 minutes, proposes ratifying the application.

The supporting ordinance says projects were submitted in September and identifies Sept. 30 as the application deadline. The program runs through the Environmental Protection Division of the Georgia Department of Natural Resources. The proposal is not a grant award: its text requires a subsequent council action to accept any award and execute the necessary agreement.
