Atlanta proposes buying approximately 0.32 acres along Memorial Drive SE for the Memorial Drive Greenway. Ordinance 26-O-1551 was listed for first reading on the Community Development/Human Services Committee’s Sept. 29 draft agenda. The city describes the land as part of a long-term vision to connect Historic Oakland Cemetery with the Georgia State Capitol.

The proposal identifies up to $1,594,374.75 for the purchase and related costs: up to $834,374.75 from the Park Impact Fee South account and $760,000 from the Eastside tax-allocation district. Those are proposed funding sources, not evidence that the purchase or appropriation was completed.

The ordinance’s title places the land at 264 Memorial Drive SE, but its acquisition recital and negotiating provision say 261 Memorial Drive SE. All three passages give the same parcel number, 14-0052-0010-026-1; the record does not resolve which street number is correct.
