Atlanta’s Public Safety and Legal Administration Committee unanimously recommended Sept. 28 a proposal authorizing the city to apply for and accept a joint federal law-enforcement grant of up to $575,422. Resolution 26-R-4181 concerns the 2026 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant from the U.S. Department of Justice’s Bureau of Justice Assistance.

The amount is a joint total for Fulton County, Atlanta, Alpharetta, College Park, East Point, Roswell, Sandy Springs, South Fulton and Union City—not an Atlanta-only allocation. The proposal describes crime-reduction and community-partnership programs and says no local match would be required.

The packet lists City Council consideration for Oct. 5 at 1 p.m. The favorable committee recommendation does not establish that an application has been submitted or that the grant has been awarded.
