A $175,000 plan to keep WorkSource’s operator past Oct. 31

Atlanta would use Fulton County’s competitively bid agreement to retain In the Door LLC through June 2027, with three one-year renewal options.

With its existing contract set to expire Oct. 31, Atlanta is proposing to keep In the Door LLC as WorkSource Atlanta’s one-stop career-center operator — using a Fulton County agreement rather than conducting a new city solicitation.[1]

Councilmember Eshé Collins’ resolution, 26-R-4272, would authorize up to $175,000 per contract term from Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act grants. The initial term would run through June 30, 2027, with three one-year renewal options.[1][2]

The city has already used an extension to keep the arrangement going. According to the resolution, the chief procurement officer granted a 90-day extension on July 6 to maintain services and federal-program compliance while procurement work continued.[1]

The proposed resolution says Fulton County’s contract went through competitive solicitation and offers established pricing and terms. Using that agreement, it argues, would let Atlanta secure the services in time without another solicitation. That is the city’s stated rationale, not a proposed change of operator.[1]

For job seekers, the service behind the contract is the one-stop model: access to job training, education and employment services at a single location. The county agreement covers workforce services and activities among the center’s partners and service providers.[1]

The council’s Oct. 19 action was a referral without objection, not approval of the contract. The proposal is scheduled for the Community Development/Human Services Committee’s Oct. 27 meeting at 1:30 p.m. in City Hall’s Larry M. Dingle Committee Room.[1][2]
