$70,000 more proposed to help low-income Atlantans find housing

The money would come from Atlanta’s Affordable Housing Trust Fund. The proposal is scheduled for finance committee consideration Oct. 28.

Atlanta would put up to $70,000 more toward the Urban League of Greater Atlanta’s work finding affordable housing for low-income residents referred through the city’s Housing Help Center, under a proposal scheduled for Finance/Executive Committee consideration Oct. 28.[1][2]

Resolution 26-R-4278, sponsored by Councilmember Jason H. Winston, would draw the money from the city’s Affordable Housing Trust Fund. The resolution describes the nonprofit’s role as identifying and placing residents in “safe, secure, affordable housing.”[1][2]

The proposal would supplement an existing donation arrangement. It cites an earlier donation of up to $500,000 under Resolution 25-R-4287 and would authorize the mayor or his designee to amend that agreement.[2]

The council’s Oct. 19 action was a referral without objection—not approval of the donation. The committee is scheduled to meet Oct. 28 at 1:30 p.m. in the Larry M. Dingle Committee Room at Atlanta City Hall, 55 Trinity Avenue. Its agenda includes a three-minute public-comment period.[1][2]
