Explore the source documentsAlpharetta’s all-ages Rivers Alive cleanup is listed for Oct. 17, from 8:30 a.m. to noon, in Georgia’s official cleanup directory. The listing names Rock Mill Park and identifies the city and its Natural Resources Commission as organizers.[1]
The work has a waterway-protection purpose: Rivers Alive is Georgia’s volunteer program aimed at keeping watersheds free of trash, encouraging cleanups of streams, rivers, lakes, beaches and wetlands. Rock Mill Park’s state site record places it in the Upper Chattahoochee River watershed.[2][3]
An earlier, unofficial Natural Resources Commission work-session summary listed Oct. 10 and encouraged commissioners to volunteer. The state directory lists Oct. 17; the two records do not explain the difference or establish whether a cleanup occurred on the earlier date.[1][4]
Volunteers are asked to preregister with organizer Terry Porter at 678-297-6200 or tporter@alpharetta.ga.us. Confirm the date and meeting-point details when registering.[1]
