Sandy Springs plans to celebrate drainage and comfort upgrades at Morgan Falls Dog Park with a ribbon-cutting Wednesday, Oct. 14. Residents and their dogs are invited to the 2 p.m. ceremony at 100 Morgan Falls Road.[1]

The work began with grading a drainage channel after community input, according to the city. The stated goal is a drier place for dogs and their owners to play—not just more amenities.[1]

New features include shade structures, benches, picnic tables, waste and wash stations, drinking fountains and boulders for dogs to climb. The 3.4-acre park overlooks the Chattahoochee River and has separate fenced areas for small and large dogs.[1]

The city says the renovation finished ahead of schedule. Its Oct. 1 announcement does not identify the original deadline, completion date or project cost, and does not provide results showing how the new drainage performs after rain.[1]
