Holy Spirit seeks a three-level parking deck—not more worship space

Five unoccupied residential structures would be demolished under the Mount Paran Road proposal. A community meeting is listed for Nov. 2.

Holy Spirit Catholic Church is seeking a three-level, 106,500-square-foot parking deck at its Mount Paran Road campus in Sandy Springs, Georgia—without adding worship space.[1]

AOA Parish Real Estate Trust's Sept. 22 letter describes five unoccupied residential structures on the Sandy Springs parcel that would be demolished. The proposal also calls for 32 additional surface parking spaces and a landscaped pocket park along Mount Paran Road, with sidewalks and seating between the road and the proposed deck.[1]

The trust says the deck would relieve parking pressure on neighborhood streets and reduce conflicts between pedestrians and vehicles. It proposes screening the surface parking from Mount Paran Road and using the pocket park to provide additional screening for the structure.[1]

On the Atlanta side of the campus, the church proposes removing parallel parking along an existing one-way drive to allow two-way traffic. The applicant says that would reduce unnecessary trips through the Mount Paran Road–Northside Drive intersection.[1]

The parking structure itself would straddle the city boundary, according to the letter, which flags possible additional review by Atlanta. The Sandy Springs request is for a conditional-use permit.[1]

Sandy Springs' register lists case U-26-10 under staff review—not approved—and a community meeting for Nov. 2, 2026, at 6 p.m. at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 844 Mount Paran Road NW.[2]
